The Eternal Light before the creation of the Sun, the Moon and the Stars

The Eternal Light: From Creation to the New Jerusalem

The Eternal Light: From Creation to the New Jerusalem

Scene: A quiet riverside at dawn. The simple man sits, watching the rising sun. A wise Baba approaches, staff in hand, eyes shining with wisdom.

1. Light at the Dawn of Creation

Simple Man: Baba, why did God first create light before the sun or the moon?

Baba: Ah, child… light is not merely the sun or moon. Light is God Himself speaking life into the darkness. Before the stars, before the sun, before the moon… there was His glory, shining over the waters of chaos.

Simple Man: So, the sun and the moon… they are not the true light?

Baba: Exactly. They are temporary guides, shadows of a greater reality. The sun warms, the moon reflects, but they cannot remove the darkness of sin or guide the soul perfectly.

2. The Promise of Eternal Light

Simple Man: Baba, the prophets spoke of a time when we would no longer need the sun or moon. How can that be?

Baba: Listen carefully. Isaiah said:

“The sun will no longer be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory.” (Isaiah 60:19)

The eternal light is not something created—it is the presence of God Himself, filling all things.

Simple Man: And Jesus… He said He is the light of the world. Is this the same light?

Baba: Indeed, my child. Just as God spoke light into the void at creation, so Jesus brings light into the darkness of our hearts. Those who follow Him will never stumble—they walk in illumination and life.

3. Walking Towards the New Jerusalem

Simple Man: But Baba, how will it be in the New Jerusalem?

Baba: Revelation says:

“The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.” (Revelation 21:23)

Imagine a city where no darkness exists. Every street, every home, every heart is illuminated by the Lamb Himself. No fear, no confusion, no shadow remains.

Simple Man: Baba… can we experience this light now, or is it only in the future?

Baba: Though the fullness is yet to come, you can walk in the light today. By following Jesus, you let His glory illuminate your mind, your heart, your decisions. Every fear dissolved, every doubt cleared… you live as if already in the New Jerusalem.

4. Meditation: Beholding the Eternal Light

Close your eyes. Imagine standing at the gates of the New Jerusalem:

  • The streets glow, not with stones, but with pure radiant light.
  • There is no sun, no moon, yet the city shines brighter than the midday sun.
  • Rivers of crystal flow, and every tree, every jewel, every home radiates the glory of the Lamb.
  • Darkness—sin, fear, confusion—is gone. Every heart is illuminated. Every mind clear.

The city does not need anything else. The Son of God is the eternal lamp, filling every corner of life with truth, holiness, and joy.

You whisper: "This is the home I long for. This is the light I have followed. This is the Son, my eternal guide."

5. Spiritual Lessons to Carry

  1. Genesis teaches that God’s glory is the first light—our ultimate source of life and truth.
  2. The prophets remind us that His light is eternal, surpassing the sun and moon.
  3. Jesus Christ is the light we can follow today, walking in guidance and life.
  4. Revelation promises the New Jerusalem, where darkness is forever gone, and the Lamb Himself illuminates everything.
  5. Practical application: Walk in His light now, reflect His glory, and anticipate the fullness of eternal illumination.
